Projective Geometry
what is projective geometry?
Creative visual projective geometry studies the potentials of metamorphosis of form and form relationships through time and space:
In this class we explore matrices and form in varying perspective, without requiring adherence to the conservative fixed rules and measurements of Euclidean geometry. It is a study of how forms can arise and interact in the interplay of three basic geometric entities:
point, line and plane.
I often like to introduce some technical concepts while also creating the space for the imagination to establish its own take on forms. I see real benefit to this process in building creative confidence with knowledge of form.
“…A new dimension in the study of form is opened up by a knowledge of projective geometry; it underlies the theory of metaphosis in living forms and also in artistic creation….”
“…We are at the beginning of a long road towards the transmutation of modern analytical methods, which admirably suited as they are to the study of inorganic sciences, are insufficient where the study of living things is concerned…”

Since the studies do not arise or adhere to fixed rules and measurements, it is a somewhat new expanding way of looking, seeing and creating advanced perspectives in imagination and from drawing, and as such suitable an older age group, (15/16yrs plus generally) where the intellectual aspect of the brain is truly developing, or, in the case of adults, has had opportunity to develop.
Ideas of form connect to relatable projection through time and space; one form changes into another without losing its identity.
Every form can be seen to have a counter form in infinity.
Suitable generally for ages 16yrs +,
All materials supplied in class.
